To give your fund application the best chance of success, make sure you are well prepared.

If your idea or skills shortage doesn’t meet CITB’s criteria, there are other sources you can try.
You may be eligible for further education funding. It’s usually distributed through colleges and training providers, but also through projects that target certain groups or priorities. In England, the main source of funds is the Education and Skills Funding Agency; in Wales, the Welsh Government Skills Gateway and in Scotland, Skills Development Scotland.
In England you can also apply for bursaries or grants for training if they meet certain criteria, accessed through the National Careers Service. The European Union also offers the Erasmus scheme that allows individuals to study across the European Union.
Local Enterprise Partnerships distribute economic investment to fund projects or activity identified as regional and local priority sectors.
Funding can come from other areas of government, too. Check all UK government grants.
Trusts and foundations provide support for particular areas or priorities. If your project is community-led or related to social impact in any way, you may be eligible for funding from the Big Lottery Fund. This is the largest, but there are a great many providers of this kind of grant.
