Overview

The purpose of Fairness, inclusion and respect awareness refresher standard is for delegates who have previously passed training to the full Fairness, inclusion and respect awareness standard or subsequent refresher training and can provide proof of attendance.

Duration

½ day of 3 learning hours

If e-learning only, the duration is to be at least 50% of this.

Purpose/scope

The purpose of Fairness, inclusion and respect awareness refresher standard is for delegates who have previously passed training to the full Fairness, inclusion and respect awareness standard or subsequent refresher training and can provide proof of attendance.

Occupational relevance

Training delivered against this standard would be relevant to the following occupational group(s):

  • support and administrative
  • operative and craft
  • supervision
  • management and leadership

Delegate pre-requisites

Delegates must have successfully completed training to the Fairness inclusion and respect awareness standard or subsequent refresher 3 years prior to attending this refresher.

Instruction/supervision

As a minimum, course trainers must be able to demonstrate that, in relation to this standard, they have:

  • an award in education and training (or equivalent, as per requirements for approved training organisations)
  • successfully completed training to this standard
  • at least 2 years relevant industrial experience
  • a verifiable CV

Delivery

Delivery may be in an on or off the job environment.

All materials and equipment must be of a suitable quality and quantity for delegates to achieve learning outcomes and must comply with relevant legislation.

The class size and delegate/trainer ratio must allow training to be delivered in a safe manner and enable delegates to achieve the learning outcomes.

The following delivery methods may be used in the delivery of this standard:

  • classroom
  • e-learning
  • remote
  • a blend of classroom and e-learning
  • a blend of classroom and remote

This standard is considered to contain 51% or more theoretical learning.

This standard is considered to be set at a basic level.

Assessment

Methods of assessment considered appropriate for training delivered against this standard are:

For the successful completion of training, delegates must complete an end of course practical assessment or knowledge test that measures all learning outcomes and has a pass or fail criteria.

Quality assurance

Assured

Quality assurance against this standard will require initial approval of the training organisation and their content mapped to the standard.

CITB will also conduct an approval intervention, either desk-based or centre visit, to ensure the training organisation can meet the requirements of the training standard.

Approved training organisations (ATOs) will be required to present information on records of training and assessment upon request to CITB for desk-based analysis. They will also be visited annually by the CITB quality assurance team.

to include:

  • making the construction industry more attractive to new entrants

  • helping the construction industry retain existing workforce.

  • other business benefits such as; construction workforce through better communication and teamwork; construction business though more diverse input and views; better legal compliance; reputational dividend.

describe the main standards, services, and legislation for equality and diversity

to include consideration of:

  • Equality Act 2010, Human Rights Act 1998 and its practical implications

and company policies including consideration of the following factors;

  • recruitment in construction including ex-offenders

  • workforce imbalance eg; gender, ethnic minority groups, LGBTQ+

  • renumeration imbalance

  • terminology used

reasonable adjustments for those protected by the equality act and potentially others to ensure inclusion of;

  • ladies’ and gender-neutral room facilities on construction sites

  • prayer room facilities on construction sites

  • access facilities

  • changing facilities on construction sites - gender specific

  • adequate and appropriate PPE for all those working on site

  • health and safety control measures

  • methods of work
