The suite contains National Occupational Standards (NOS) related to:

  • Hand miner
  • Shaft miner
  • Tunnelling machine operator
  • Machiner tunnelling operative
  • Spoil removal conveyor operative
  • Tunnelling operative
  • Tunnel transport operator
  • Tunnel fitter's or Tunnel electrician's mate
  • Sprayed concrete lining tunnelling nozzleman
  • Pipe jacking or micro-tunnelling machiner operator
  • Separation Operative.

A review of the National Occupational Standards is currently underway for Tunnelling Operations. The Generic content of the NOS and COSVR174 Install Tunnelling Services have been reviewed by the National Working Group (NWG) and can be reviewed by opening the Pdf documents.

CITB manages the structures for vocational qualifications. We base the content for these structures on the relevant National Occupational Standards.

The structures are approved by employers and industry stakeholders. Training organisations base their courses on the structures.
