CISRS Operative Training Scheme (COTS)

Funding: CITB grant payable of £60 per person to eligible companies

This one-day course teaches industry basics and how to safely work with scaffolding and access equipment.

It is suitable for both beginners and existing CISRS Scaffolding Labourer Card (green card) holders who need to renew their card.

Passing the course will grant you the CISRS Scaffolder Labour Card, which we will apply for on your behalf.

Course content

The course includes:

  • Basic scaffolding terminology (components and application)
  • Servicing of equipment, including tube, fittings and boards
  • Quality control
  • Manual handling, including loading and unloading
  • Lifting equipment using rope and wheel
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Health and safety, including hazards related to fire, electrics, heights and noise.

Teaching and assessment

Classroom-based teaching, practical exercises and exams

What you get

CISRS Scaffolder Labour Card, which we will apply for on your behalf

Entry requirements

  1. Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) test passed within the last 23 months, or an accepted exemption.
  2. Moderate level of fitness.
  3. Good spoken and written English.
  4. Valid form of ID. See accepted forms of ID.
