A 2-day course for anybody who works with plant machinery.

Covers risk and safe working near other plant vehicles and/or obstructions, also excavation awareness and traffic/vehicle movements.

Course content

  • Understand legal responsibilities under Health & Safety at Work Act, PUWER, and CDM regulations
  • Identify common site hazards, including slips, trips, falls, and moving plant
  • Learn safe manual handling techniques to prevent injury
  • Understand working at height and the correct use of ladders, scaffolds, and harnesses
  • Recognise electrical, fire, and chemical hazards on site
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly and consistently
  • Understand traffic management and safe segregation of pedestrians and plant
  • Learn effective communication and reporting procedures on site
  • Promote environmental awareness and pollution prevention measures
  • Apply knowledge to maintain a safe working environment and reduce accidents.

Teaching and assessment 

2 days of classroom-based practical activities.
