This course is designed for Plant operatives who wish to learn how 3D machine controls offer efficiencies and cost savings as a result of implementing such technology on site.
You will receive an overview of the primary functions and features to be able to use the equipment correctly.

Course content

  • How GNSS antennas receive signals and how the corrections are applied using a local base station or network RTK
  • Brief explanation of GNSS technology
  • Improving construction workflow and explanation of GNSS technology
  • How to classify machine control into two categories by its extra hydraulic function.
  • Hardware overview and calibration requirements
  • The basics of a 2D systems and UI of the MC1 system and how to navigate menus
  • Diagnose potential problems and checks
  • Data syn process and how to select projects, models and co-ordinate systems
  • Basic use; including offsets, selecting linework and surfaces, recording as-build points and customisation.
  • How to create your own model using the on-board tools

Teaching and assessment

The 1 day course is both theory-based, delivered via a presentation, and practical based using appropriate simulation software. With NOCN assured training resources used during the training.

To ensure that the most up-to-date material is being used centres must download the material from MyNOCN each time, prior to delivery of a course. All surplus training material must be destroyed after each occasion that a course has been run.

The structure of the training is provided by the course PowerPoint Presentation and the tutor lesson plan. Trainers are expected to use these resources to guarantee that delegates are witness to the total information required to successfully complete this course.

There are 2 assessment methods:

  • a practical assessment
  • a multiple choice test and short written answer question paper. Both elements must be passed for the delegate to be successful.
  • Pass mark for practical assessment: 10 out of 10
  • Pass mark for knowledge assessment 11 out of 15. (1 resit is permitted per assessment)

Qualifications you get

You will receive a certificate and registered as having officially completed 1 day training
