This 10-day course teaches beginners how to safely operate an Excavator 360° Tracked above 10 tonnes.
It is designed for people with little to no experience. Those with experience may prefer our condensed three-day course.
Passing the course grants the CPCS Trained Operator Card (red card), which we will apply for on your behalf.
Course content
The course includes:
- Operate the Excavator 360° Tracked and understand its capabilities
- Fit supplementary equipment
- Interpreting level pegs and profiles
- Work to levels with the aid of laser equipment
- Safety precautions
- Routine servicing, adjustments and procedures.
Teaching and assessment
Nine days of classroom-based teaching and practical exercises
One day of CPCS technical tests

Entry requirements
- CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test passed within two years of course start date.
- Good spoken and written English.

Further training
You'll need to complete the Plant Operations NVQ/SVQ level 2 within two years to get the CPCS Competent Operator Card (blue card). Register your interest for this NVQ here.
