The full 5-day course for people with limited or no experience.
If you pass the technical tests, we apply for the CPCS Trained Operator (red) card on your behalf.
Experienced but need a formal qualification? Consider the condensed 2-day course.
Course content
- Operate the machine to a minimum standard
- Fit and operate ancillary equipment
- Site the machine safely and efficiently
- Minor adjustments and routine servicing
- Prepare the machine for travelling on the public highway
- Understand the capabilities, purpose, and limitations of each machine
- Safety precautions
- Diesel engines and how various parts of the machine operate.
Teaching and assessment
- 4 days classroom learning and practical exercises
- 1-day CPCS technical tests.
What you get
- CPCS Trained Operator Card (red card) if you pass the CPCS technical tests
- CITB National Construction College e-certificate available on request.
Entry requirements
- CITB HS&E test passed within the last two years, or the new CPCS Plant Operative Health, Safety and Environment Test - NOCN Job Cards
- Good spoken and written English.
- Valid form of ID. See accepted forms of ID.
