This three day training course is intended for delegates with little or no previous experience of setting out. This is aimed at supervisors, foreman and site supervisors.
The overall aim of the course is to introduce the basic instrumentation and techniques required to perform levelling and setting out, and to give the participants the confidence and ability to carry out basic setting out and levelling operations.

Training Objectives
To ensure that at the end of the course delegates have an understanding of:
- Setting up and using an automatic level
- Booking and calculating levels using HPC
- 2 peg test for level
- Setting up and using a theodolite (total station)
- Measuring angles
- Basic trigonometry
- Correct taping procedures
- Basic setting out calculations
- Setting out small projects using a total station
- Formation profiles
Qualifications you get
- CITB National Construction College Certificate.
Mandatory entry requirements
- You will need a reasonable level of mobility and the ability to lift and move loads. Please tell us beforehand if you have a medical ailment that may affect your ability to do manual work
- You will also need a good understanding of spoken and written English. Please contact us if you have any concerns in this area
- You will need to have a good understanding and working knowledge of maths, specifically:
- Falls and gradients
- Whole circle bearings
- Working with degrees, minutes and seconds
- Basic geometry
- Basic angles
- Basic trigonometry
- Pythagoras
- Co-ordinates.
