Overview

The Large Employer Fund is an interim offer available only for FY26/27 whilst a longer-term solution is developed.

This Fund is intended to provide large employers (with 250 or more PAYE employees) with financial support towards their training needs.

The funding can be utilised against any in-scope training of your choice.

Who can access the Large Employer Fund?

You must meet the following criteria:

  • Your business must have 250 or more employees (declared on your most recent Levy Return)
  • Your Levy Return and payments must be up to date.

How much support is available?

You can access up to £18,000 to spend on any in-scope training of your choice.  All funded training must take place between 1 April 2026 and 31 March 2027.

See the What is Fundable section below for further information.

How to access the funding?

The Fund will open on 1 April 2026. You can submit an Expression of Interest anytime up to 30 June 2026.

Simply complete the Request for Funding (PDF, 302KB) and email this, along with your training plan, to LargeEmployerFund@citb.co.uk. This must be submitted directly from the business, not from a training provider or any other intermediaries.

One Expression of Interest (per each levy registration number) can be submitted. Employers with a live project under the Leadership and Management Fund are still able to participate.

What happens next?

  • The CITB team will review your eligibility and confirm that your Levy Return and payments are up to date. Eligibility reviews will be carried out as soon as possible on receipt of your Expression of Interest
  • You will then receive an email confirming you have been awarded funding (or requesting any additional information if needed). The email will include your funding review dates:
    • The first £9,000 payment will be scheduled between July-August 2026
    • The final £9,000 payment will be scheduled between Feb-March 2027
  • If you are not able to provide us with a training plan, training provider invoices can be submitted as evidence in order to release the funding payments. Please indicate your preference on the Expression of Interest form in the box provided.
