Open Doors 2026: Event registration is now open for employers

Construction employers across the country have the chance to inspire the next generation of construction workers by demonstrating the excitement of a career in construction and taking young people onto one of their live sites. Open Doors returns Monday 23 to Saturday 28 March 2026 and is being delivered by Build UK in partnership with the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS), supported by media, community and industry partners, who are encouraging construction employers to register their events to take part.

Open Doors offers a unique opportunity for the public to go behind the scenes of live construction sites, offices, factories, and training centres across the UK – both in person and virtually.

CITB’s Construction Workforce Outlook report estimates that the UK needs to recruit 47,860 extra workers each year to meet demand for housing, infrastructure and maintenance. Open Doors seeks to inspire young people and career changers to consider and explore a career in the construction industry.

Build UK members can register events free of charge and there is an early‐bird discount available to non‐members until 30 November.

Deb Madden, Executive Director – Customer Engagement and Operations, CITB, said:

“Registration for Open Doors is now available, and we want to encourage all construction employers to take part in what is always a brilliant showcase for the industry. Open Doors is a great opportunity for our future workforce to go behind the scenes of real construction sites and see the teamwork and collaboration that happens on site.

“Open Doors isn’t just for the big companies. We’re encouraging SMEs to engage and offer their sites for visits to show the real face of our industry to potential recruits. We know how crucial all parts of our industry are in supporting new entrants.”

Tamsin Parkes, Open Doors Project Manager, Build UK, said:

“Around 88% of visitors to Open Doors 2025 said that they’d be more likely to consider a career in construction after their visit.

“This shows that the opportunity to go behind the scenes and see first-hand the wide range of roles available has the potential to inspire long-lasting career choices.”

CITB will be welcoming attendees to its National Construction College (NCC) sites at Bircham Newton, Inchinnan and Erith as part of Open Doors 2026.

Key dates for Open Doors are as follows:

  • 12 January 2026 – Visitor bookings open
